On Not Fighting My Body Anymore

For most of my life, my body was something I was trying to fix. It has taken me the better part of forty years to realize she was never the problem. From modern dance at fourteen, to the war years of my twenties, to the basement floor where I finally found my way back to myself.

The Uno Kids

Working at the same library branch I came to after school as a kid. On a card game, coming full circle, and the practice rooms we quietly make for each other.

Walking Counts

Somewhere in my twenties and thirties, I picked up the idea that exercising had to be something specific to matter. Then I moved home to Fort Wayne, and walking found me again — not as exercise, but as a homecoming.

Can I Teach Yoga Without Being Certified?

a note from me

Hi, I'm Ebony.

I'm a yoga teacher, fitness instructor, certified yoga lifestyle coach, and the heart behind Light + Love Yoga. Since 2008, I've coached many through movement, mindfulness, and daily practices that support real life.

Over time, my work has shifted. I still teach some online fitness classes, but these days I focus more on coaching, midlife, wellness, personal stories, and the very real experience of living in a body that changes with you. Midlife has given me the chance to lean more fully into my strengths as a listener, a motivator, and an experiential advocate. I'm much less interested in chasing a picture-perfect lifestyle, and much more interested in sharing what I've actually lived, what's helped me, and what feels sustainable in real life.

I still love movement deeply. I just don't need fitness to be the whole story anymore.

This blog is where I share the honest lessons I've picked up along the way — about teaching, healing, and the quiet choice to keep evolving. You'll also find a small shop of self-paced guides and gentle tools I've built for real, everyday practice.

The goal is consistency, not perfection. I'm so glad you're here. ♥
